The brainchild of Lois Ring, Edina artist and my predecessor as Chair of the Edina Public Art Committee, the Tent Art Sale is one answer to the oft voiced opinion that there aren’t enough venues for Edina artists to show and sell their art work.
Michael Frey, Executive Director of EAC; Hafed Bouassida, Chair of the Edina Art and Culture Commission and Edina collage artist, Naomi Griffith, were also instrumental in supporting the project.

The Tent Art Sale will take place ~ yes in a tent ~ in the parking lot of the Edina Art Center, 4701 W. 64th St. as well as in a large room in the lower level of EAC, according to Ring. Hours will be Thurs. 9-8, Fri. 9-5, Sat. 10-3, Sun. 12-4.
What that means for art lovers is that you will have the opportunity to purchase original paintings and drawings at very reasonable prices. It’s also an opportunity for artists whose work was entered in the member show and did not get hung due to the selection process and limited space.
The response has been very good, Ring said, with over 100 entries. Each artist was allowed to have three submissions of original paintings and drawings. A standard 35% commission benefits the Art Center. Much of the art work in the Members’ Juried Exhibition will also be for sale.
The Artists’ Reception for the juried show is Thursday, Sept. 26th, from 5 to 8 p.m. with critique remarks at 6 p.m.
Among artists whose work will be in the Tent Sale are Robert Jackson, Jack Roberts, Richard Abraham, Diane Flanagan, Naomi Griffith, Diana Hedges and Lois Ring.
Ring welcomes art lovers who would like to volunteer for a few hours during the four-day Tent Sale. Please contact her at 952-806-9966 if you would like to volunteer.
