Forget to Give your Pet Heartgard?
If you forget to give your pet their Heartgard medication at the beginning of the month there are a couple extra steps that are recommended. Read on to learn more!
Life is busy and sometimes things are forgotten. If you realize your dog has missed his/her dose of heartworm prevention, immediately restart the medication. The American Heartworm Society recommends that you ideally retest for heartworm disease in 7 months. The reason behind the 7 month test is that heartworms must be at least 6-7 months old before the infection can be diagnosed.
