Friday Night Games Kind to Edina Girls Teams
Hornets girls basketball wins season opener, while girls hockey shuts out Roseau.

Friday night was a good one for the Edina girls basketball and hockey teams as both teams joined the victorious Hornets boys basketball team with respective wins of their own.
Edina hoops wins at Stillwater
The Edina girls hoopsters traveled to Stillwater High School in the season opener as the Hornets up-ended the host Ponies, 67-59, to go to 1-0 on the year.

Edina junior forward Lindsay Johnson led all scorers with 18 points in the victory, while sophomore guard MC McGrory chimed in with 17 points and senior guard Jamie Bresnahan logged 12 points.

Behind forward Greer Vogl's hat trick and goaltender Maddie Dahl's 19-for-19 save effort, the Edina girls hockey team shut out visiting Roseau, 6-0, at the Braemar Arena.
In addition to Vogl, Lizzy Otten, Sarah Nielsen and Christie Brauer each scored for the home team in the triumph that pushed the Hornets' record to 6-1 on the year.

Both the Edina boys and girls hockey teams will be in action at Braemar on Saturday, as the girls host Warroad at 3 p.m. before the boys take to the ice at 7 p.m. against visiting Eagan.
