Furry Fashionista Fishes for Friends

This AKC registered Hairless Chinese Crested is available for adoption through Edina-based Secondhand Hounds.

Little Ella was used for breeding and then left at a high-kill shelter in Missouri when she was no longer needed to produce puppies. Along with her sister, Mona, Ella luckily made her way to Edina-based rescue organization Secondhand Hounds, where she is being given a second chance at a happy life.

Ella has since been spayed, her breeding days are behind her, and now it’s time to find a family.

House-trained and crate-trained, Ella is calm and quiet. She likes going for short walks, being held and carried. Foster mom Sarah Page describes Ella as a very social and sweet pup who loves to be around people.

As a Hairless Chinese Crested, Ella has hair on her face, legs and paws, but none on her torso. For this reason, Page said Ella should wear clothing or sunscreen when outside to protect her from sunburn.

“Luckily, Ella loves wearing clothes and getting dressed up to look pretty,” Page said.
