(GALLERY) Edina Teams Continue USA Cup Action

Several Edina youth soccer teams took part in massive soccer tournament.

The Schwan's USA Cup soccer tournament is massive, with nearly 1,000 teams and more than 10,000 soccer players from around the world taking part in the competition.

Among the masses, several youth Edina soccer teams traveled to Blaine to take part in the global tournament.

U11 boys

The Edina Swarm U11 boys team went 3-1-0 in pool play. Edina beat British School 7-1 and NSSA 5-0 before falling to UNAM 2-0. The Swarm bounced back with a 9-0 win over Blaine Predators.

The Edina Stingers U11 boys soccer team finished pool play with a 2-2-0 record. The Stingers defeated Edgars Youth Programme 9-6 and North Metro Fury 2-1, but lost to EPSC Explosion 4-1 and RIo Select 4-1.

The Edina Strikers U11 boys team went 0-2-1. The Strikers lost to Dakota Rev Devils 8-0 and Ela Blue 5-2 before tying Alianza Indios Yaguez 3-3.

Both the Stingers and Strikers advanced in the first round of the U11 B playoffs on Friday, with the Stingers winning 6-1 over British School and the Strikers beating South St. Paul 3-0. The two teams will play each other at 3 p.m. on Friday at Field F5.

The Swarm advanced to the second round on Friday with a 6-2 win over Blaine Venom in the U11 boys A playoffs. Their next game is against Rio Select at 3 p.m. on Friday at Field F1.

U12 girls

The Edina Sting U12 girls team went 2-0-1 during pool play. Edina tied the Rebels Revolution 1-1 to open up the pool play, then beat EPSC Blaze 3-0 before topping NLS Lightning 8-0.

The Sting opened up the U12 girls A playoff bracket with a matchup against the Blaine Crashers.

U12 boys

The Edina Sting U12 boys team went 0-2-1 in pool play. The Sting opened up with a 4-4 tie against MapleBrook, then lost to McHenry Vipers Green 1-0 and Academy Sports Club 8-1.

U16 boys

The Edina Sting U16 boys team went 0-3-0 in pool play over the week. The Sting lost to Northstorm 95 by a 3-0 count, then lost to Downtown United 5-2 and Monticello River Eagles 2-1.

The Sting then defeated Wayzata SC 3-0 in the first round of the U16 A playoff gold flight. Their next game is at 3 p.m. at Field H2 on Friday.
