Kuhlman Stadium was packed for the Edina football home opener on Friday night and the Hornets did not disappoint their faithful while proving to be a rude host to their neighbors in a 38-0 defeat of Minneapolis Southwest.
Nick Rallis rolled into the end zone on Edina's first possession, capping a long drive with his touchdown run to help stake the Hornets to a 7-0 lead they would not relinquish.
Edina dominated the pace of play all night as several of the Hornets' reserves saw playing time as the game turned into a rout in the second half.

It's win long since sealed, the Edina defense clinched the Hornets' first shutout win since 2007 by stopping the Lakers' final desperate drive one yard short on a goal line stand as time expired.
Edina, now 2-0 on the season, heads to Lakeville North next Friday for a matchup against the seventh-ranked Panthers.
