If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

MINNEAPOLIS—Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) is pleased to announce the return of the uproarious and
immensely popular If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, also kicking off a new commitment of providing summer
programming for all ages. Managing Director Tim Jennings explains, “Our audiences have long been asking us to
program through the summer months and what could be more fun than a brilliantly funny and over the top
production to while away a summer's eve?” Artistic Director Peter Brosius adds, “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie stands
among the most successful pieces of physical comedy that CTC has ever done and we cannot wait to share this story
again.”
Brimming with hilarity and chaos, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is a wild adventure following the energetic and
earnest efforts of the Mouse as he seeks a cookies and milk from his friend, the Boy. The production, by playwright
Jody Davidson based on the book by Laura Joffe Numeroff, was extended due to popular demand and rave reviews in
2008, and is back for a limited engagement June 21 through July 21. Parents will revel at watching the
rambunctious pair get into more trouble than their kids this summer in what Tim Gihring of the Minnesota Monthly
called, “the messiest play in the history of Twin Cities theater.”
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie will feature CTC Acting Company members (and best friends) Reed Sigmund and
Dean Holt as The Boy and The Mouse, respectively. Long-time fan favorites and Twin Cities comic duo, Sigmund
and Holt paired up for the original production of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie in 2008, which left audiences
gasping for air from laughter and left the stage in utter destruction. Brosius explains, “Reed Sigmund and Dean
Holt are two of the most energetic and inventive comedic actors around. They create moment after moment of
hilarity, escalating delirium and utter delight.” In his 2008 review, Rohan Preston of the Star Tribune claimed,
“Their bounding collaboration makes this ‘Mouse/Cookie’ into a romp that might just give you the laughter
equivalent of a sugar high.”
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by playwright Jody Davidson based on the book by Laura Joffe Numeroff opens
June 21 and runs through July 21, 2013. Tickets and subscription packages are available now online at
childrenstheatre.org or by calling the Ticket Office at 612.874.0400.
Children’s Theatre Company (CTC) is the first theatre for young people to win the coveted Tony® Award for
