Late Field Goal Lifts Edina Past Hopkins
Patrick LeCorre's 36-yard boot sends the Hornets on to face Eden Prairie.

The Edina football team defeated Hopkins by a 38-35 margin on Tuesday in the Section 6AAAAAA quarterfinal in Edina.
Patrick LeCorre’s 36-yard field goal with seconds left on the clock lifted the Hornets past their Lake Conference rival and into the next round.
The Hornets advanced to face top-seeded Eden Prairie in the section semifinals on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Edina fell behind 12-0 on Tuesday, but cut the lead to 12-7 after a four-yard touchdown run by John Bryan. The Hornets took a 14-12 lead thanks to Francisco Hardacker’s nine-yard touchdwon run to start the second quarter.
After Hopkins took a 18-14 lead, the Hornets scored three straight touchdowns to takea 35-18 lead. Hardacker scored on a 43-yard run, Mark Handberg connected with Jake Remes for a 14-yard touchdown pass, and Hardacker scored again from seven yards out.

But Hopkins came storming back. The Royals scored two touchdowns and a field goal to tie the game at 35-35 in the fourth quarter.
But LeCorre’s field goal gave the Hornets the win.
With the win, Edina improved to 5-4 on the season. Hopkins ends the year with a 3-6 record.
