Let Your Dog Run Free at Strachauer Park

Edina's Parks & Recreation Department recently opened another off-leash dog park.

Canines looking for a little more freedom have a new place in Edina to take their owners.

Edina’s Parks & Recreation Department recently opened a second off-leash area, or dog park, that was created from a converted hockey rink at Strachauer Park, Edina announced.

The new off-leash area is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dogs using the dog park must be vaccinated—and be leashed when entering and exiting the area.

All dogs using the off-leash area must wear an off-leash area collar, which can be purchased at City Hall for $25 for residents and $50 for nonresidents. Discounts are available for multiple dogs.

Glass containers, smoking, female dogs in season, unauthorized motorized equipment, bicycles and aggressive dogs are prohibited in the dog park. Children younger than 6 aren’t allowed in the park. Children younger than 12 must be supervised by an adult.

Edina’s other dog park is in Van Valkenburg Park. That off-leash area is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., but the rules are otherwise identical.
