LETTER: Hovland 'Has Served His Community Very Well' as Mayor

It has been my pleasure to work with Jim Hovland for more than a decade on a variety of boards and commissions dealing with the challenges of Minnesota’s communities.  

As Minnetonka’s recently retired city manager, and former Minnesota Finance Commissioner in the Carlson Administration, Jim and I always saw eye to eye on the importance of responsible financial leadership.

I have come to know Jim as a leader who shares my values of sustainable financial management and innovative service provision. Faced with the issues that increasingly confront public agencies, Jim is one of those rare principled leaders who consistently takes the long-term view to put his community in a stronger position to face the future.

Jim’s philosophy of nonpartisan public service has served his community very well throughout his leadership as Mayor. It’s no coincidence that Edina is so highly regarded by its residents and businesses alike.

We need more leaders like Jim at the helms of our cities. Please help reelect Jim Hovland as Mayor of Edina.
