Two weeks ago a family member and I decided to stop into the New Beijing restaurant (adjacent to Lunds + Byerly's) at 962 Prairie Center Drive, in Eden Prairie, for what I thought would be their lovely buffet. To our surprise, we found the restaurant completely filled with customers (on a rainy afternoon) feasting on authentic Dim Sum, the Chinese equivalent of hors d'euvres. This is, to me, quite wonderful, as I spent two years living in San Francisco, where I ate dim sum at every opportunity in a tiny restaurant on Grant Avenue. These dumplings and specialties are exquisite in flavor and presentation. Some are more exotic than others, so ask before you choose. I made a mistake of taking a bowl of what looked like some sort of beef, only to find that it was <yipes> tripe.
The only caveat is that dim sum are hand-crafted and are expensive, so this is not as economical as a buffet. But for me, this is a dream-come-true. :-)
