(PHOTOS) Hornets Make Poor Homecoming Date for Hopkins

Edina improved to 5-1 on the season with a 24-14 win over Hopkins on Friday, Sept. 28.

One week after a triumphant homecoming victory over Lake Conference rival Minnetonka, the Edina football team was invited to take on the Hopkins Royals for the neighboring district's own homecoming festivities.

After handing the Royals a 24-14 loss on Friday, Sept. 28, they might not be invited back.

Running back Kevin Placide and quarterback Mark Handberg combined for 256 total yards and three touchdowns against the Royals. Handberg connected with receiver Nick Boone on two touchdowns, while Placide cruised into the endzone for a touchdown of his own. Marley Allison led the Hornets in receiving, with 92 yards.
