Recognizing signs of asthma in cats

Gagging and coughing can be a sign of asthma

If your cat looks like it is gagging up a hairball, but nothing is coming out, it could be feline asthma. Asthma is not uncommon in cats, and can be serious if left untreated. If your cat is coughing or gagging regularly, or seems to be breathing fast, please make an appointment with your veterinarian. The doctor can take an x-ray to determine if your cat has asthma, and prescribe a treatment plan.
