Rooting for Reuben
This American Pit Bull Terrier mix is available for adoption through Secondhand Hounds.
Reuben, an American Pit Bull Terrier mix, came to Edina-based rescue organization Secondhand Hounds by way of a high-kill shelter in Missouri. Beyond that, most of his history is unknown.
Foster parent Jennifer Sather said a few detectable scars on his face have led her to suspect his past was a little rough. Despite that, he is a friendly, happy dog—one who likes to cuddle on the couch and have his belly rubbed.
“He has a fantastic personality,” Sather said. “I know a lot of people are put off by the fact that he is a bully breed mix, but I tell you there is no bully in this guy. He is a big softy.”

Reuben, who is estimated between three and four years of age, is house-trained and knows basic commands. So far, he has done well with adults, other dogs and kids, though he does seem more comfortable with women than men.
If you are interested in making Reuben’s future more pleasant than his past, fill out an adoption application on the Secondhand Hounds website. The rescue organization has placed 1,427 pets in forever homes since it was founded in August of 2009.
