Hornets split with Eden Prairie on Saturday, with surging girls squad suddenly one win from state tournament.

It wasn't the way it was supposed to go on paper, but the Edina soccer squads split their pair of sectional semifinal contests on Saturday with the road team winning both as the Hornets boys lost at home and the girls won away.

Boys Soccer

A season that showed such promise just two weeks ago came to its final disappointing conclusion in the Section 2AA semifinals as second-seeded Edina was blanked 3-0 in an upset victory for visiting No. 3 seed Eden Prairie.

The defeat concluded the Hornets' season with a 13-4-1 record. Three of those four losses were suffered after an Oct. 1 victory at Eden Prairie as Edina lost out on conference and now sectional honors following three losses to Lake rivals in the last four games of the year.

Jens Undlin wrapped his high school soccer career as the Hornets' top scorer with 16 goals and four assists for 20 points total.
