Sports Seminar: Leading Our Youth to Multi-Sports Success: Focus on Football and Safety

The Edina Football Association in conjunction
with Edina Athletic Department is hosting its inaugural Sports Safety Seminar
on May 27th, 2014 in the Edina Performing Arts Center. From 7pm
until 9pm this seminar, hosted by Justin Gaard of KFAN and kicked off by Troy
Stein, Edina’s Activities Director, will focus on safely developing youth
athletes, how the game of football is evolving from a safety perspective,
concussion and other injury prevention and personal stories of athletic
success. This event will be a panel discussion featuring the following
prominent individuals:

§  Ben Leber, Former Viking linebacker, KFAN personality and Edina resident.

§  Mike Sherels, University of Minnesota Linebackers Coach.

§  Dr. Christopher Larson, Orthopedic Surgeon and a Team Physician for
the Minnesota Wild, former Team Physician for the Minnesota Vikings.

§  Zach Budish and Nick Rallis, former Edina football
players and current Gopher players.

§  Reed Boltmann, Edina High School, Head Football Coach.

§  John Swain, former Minnesota Viking and current USA
Football Master Trainer. Ron Peterson, EFA Head’s Up Certified Trainer.

Following
the panel discussion, there will be a Meet and Greet session for the audience
to ask more questions, as well as try on equipment, attend safe tackling
demonstrations, meet panel participants as well as other athletes that will be
attending the event.
