Sports Update: Sectional Soccer Pairings Announced
Edina girls, boys, to host back-to-back playoffs games on Thursday evening.
The Edina boys and girls soccer team learned of their sectional playoff seedings and pairings over the weekend, with both sides earning home games to begin the post-season this week.
Boys Soccer
After closing its season out with two-straight losses, the Edina boys soccer team claimed the No. 2 seed for the Section 2AA Tournament and will host Lake Conference rival Minnetonka on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

The two sides split their regular-season matchups one game apiece, with the Skippers defeating the Hornets 2-1 on Oct. 6 to cost Edina a share of the Lake championship and dropping the squad to 12-3-1 heading into the playoffs.

The Edina girls soccer team earned the third seed for the 2AA tourney and will host No. 6 Shakopee at 5 p.m. Thursday.
A 2-1 win at Duluth East on Saturday, Oct. 8 gave the Hornets an 8-3-5 record in the regular season.
Volleyball
A 2-2 appearance in the October Classic in Apple Valley earned the Edina volleyball team a seventh-place finish in the tournament and upped the Hornets record to 18-7-1 on the season. Individual statistics were not made available.
