Susan G. Komen Twin Cities 3-Day Starts Friday

Organizers say since 2004, the Twin Cities 3-Day has raised more than $62 million in the fight to end breast cancer.

Susan G. Komen Twin Cities 3-Day participants will walk 60 miles in the Twin Cities beginning Friday, Aug. 19.

The Komen 3-Day is a three-day, 60-mile walk for those who want to end breast cancer.

These men and women raise a minimum of $2,300 and walk an average of 20 miles a day for three consecutive days while educating people about breast health with every step.

Since 2004, the Twin Cities 3-Day has raised more than $62 million in the fight to end breast cancer, according to a news release.

"In 2016, more than 240,000 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women and nearly 2,600 cases will be diagnosed in men in the U.S.," said Chrissy Mathews, Susan G. Komen 3-Day Program Manager.

"The participants in Twin Cities have worked tirelessly to help us in our mission to eradicate this disease and we won’t stop until a cure is found."

Throughout the weekend, local residents can encourage and cheer on 3-Day participants as they journey 60 miles in three days:

Friday, Aug. 19: Opening Ceremony

  • 7:00 a.m.
  • Southdale Mall: 10 Southdale Circle, Edina, MN 55435

Sunday, Aug. 21: Closing Ceremony

  • 4:30 p.m.
  • Harriet Island: 200 Dr. Justus O’Hage Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55107
