To Dip or Not To Dip

To Dip or Not To Dip

My lovely staff brought in various dips and snacks today in honor of our office manager, Nikki Potter, who is on the verge of going on maternity leave.  Folks were encouraging me to indulge in the various marvelous and sinful offerings, but I said somewhat jokingly that “I’m on a diet” which, to those of you who know me, sounds kind of funny because I am pretty skinny anyway.  My daughter questioned me on this and I replied that I see no reason why I should not be as fit as any person decades younger than me and so I have set a high standard for myself.  I would have loved a piece of that coffee cake, really I would, but I have simply decided that I would rather work consistently to achieve my health goals than experience the very temporary pleasure of such a delight.  It may sound strange to some, or most, but I think there are things in life that are worth sacrificing when the pay-out is so much greater.  We all have things like that in life and often it is simply a matter of making a decision about what we want.
