At a recent west metro roundtable, groups serving Excelsior and nearby communities reported big jumps in food shelf use and rental assistance needs, while warning that uncertain state and federal funding could make it harder to keep families housed and fed. 
• Linda Kay Fitts (née Jacobs), 75 (newpraguetimes.com) — Excelsior is mourning longtime resident Linda Kay Fitts, whose memorial Mass will be held May 28 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in town. Linda and her husband Dana raised their family in Excelsior, loved walking around Excelsior Commons, and were often found enjoying the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and Carver Park with friends and family.
