Immigrant Photo Show Coming to Mississippi Branch Library
Current exhibit about state's black baseball players ends Thursday.

Photographs of immigrant youth in America go on exhibit Wednesday at the .
The pictures are the work of Jila Nikpay, a Twin Cities photographer and filmmaker.
In a release from the library, Nikpay said she found "flexibility and mystery" in her young subjects: "Through these portraits, I explore their complex rite of passage, which mirrors the evolving America identity.” County Commissioner Jim Kordiak, liaison to the library board, said, “It’s interesting to ponder how today’s new arrivals, by their sheer numbers alone, are redefining what it means to be an American.”

Nikpay has invited comments on her photographs at a public forum website.
"Faces of New America" will remain on exhibit at the library through August. It is the show's only scheduled appearance in Anoka County.

The at the Mississippi Branch Library ended earlier than planned on Tuesday.
Correction: An earlier version of this article said the switch between exhibits would take place Thursday-Friday as announced but a library spokesperson said that changed to accommodate other libraries showing the exhibits and staff to do the work of installing and de-installing the exhibits.
