• Video shows 18-mile pursuit of pickup truck driver that ended in Blaine crash (cbsnews.com) — A pre-dawn police pursuit that began when a Fridley officer tried stopping a pickup ended 18 miles later in a Blaine ditch, with the driver arrested on a felony warrant. Multiple north-metro agencies joined the chase as the suspect sped through several cities before crashing in a neighborhood and being taken to jail to face new charges.
   

• A forester's eye on the wild (hpj.com) — Longtime Fridley resident Erv Berglund has spent 45 years meticulously journaling wildlife activity at his remote hunting shack 200 miles north of town. Now he's lending that same careful eye to the University of Minnesota Extension's Offal Wildlife Watching Project, helping researchers better understand scavengers and food webs across the state.
