Golden Valley City Council Announces Weekend Curfew
Golden Valley Police Department adds extra officers to patrol on Friday night.

The Golden Valley City Council held an emergency meeting Friday, May 29, 9 pm to pass an ordinance imposing a city-wide nighttime curfew consistent with Gov. Walz’s Emergency Order 20-65. The curfew took immediate effect after the Council’s passage of the ordinance and will be in effect until Saturday, May 30, 2020, 6 am. The curfew will go into effect again Saturday, May 30, 8 pm until Sunday, May 31, 6 am. During the curfew, all persons must not travel on any public street or in any public place in the City of Golden Valley.

All law enforcement, fire, medical personnel, and members of the news media, as well as other personnel authorized by the City of Minneapolis, City of Saint Paul, Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Minnesota State Patrol, or Minnesota National Guard, are exempt from the curfew. Individuals traveling directly to and from work, seeking emergency care, fleeing dangerous circumstances, or experiencing homelessness are also exempt.

Golden Valley Police Department Adds Officers to Regular Patrol
In addition to the regular patrol crew, the Golden Valley Police Department (GVPD) will have eight extra officers patrolling City streets tonight, including the Police Commander, Police Chief, and Golden Valley Fire Department personnel. The GVPD is monitoring the situation throughout the metro and is working closely with neighboring agencies, as well as Hennepin County and State agencies, to protect our residents and property.
