• Raiders Football Perfect Season Spoiled by Mankato East (kdwa.com) — Hastings football fans just saw the Raiders’ perfect regular season end with a 27–14 loss to Mankato East, but the team still finished 7–1 and earned a home playoff game. The Raiders will host a section opponent at Todd Field on Halloween, October 31 at 1 p.m., giving locals another big chance to cheer them on. 
• Lakeville Man Sentenced to Life Without Parole in Pregnant Sister's Murder (mncrime.com) — A Dakota County judge in Hastings has sentenced 25-year-old Jack Joseph Ball to consecutive life terms without parole for killing his pregnant sister and her unborn child. The ruling, issued at the Hastings courthouse, follows his first-degree murder convictions and rejection of his mental illness defense, and he will serve his time in the state prison at St. Cloud.
