Music in the Park Kicks Off June 28
The annual free concert series runs through Aug. 9.

The sound of fife and drum will be heard in Downtown Hopkins the evening of Thursday, June 21st, heralding the kick-off of the 28th annual Hopkins summer Music in the Park series.
Starting at 6:15 pm, just beneath the Clock Tower at 9th & Mainstreet, costumed members of the 1st John Philip Sousa Memorial Band will be playing a rope tension drum and six hole fifes to welcome concert goers. They will march throughout the Downtown area playing in various locations before returning to for the start of the 7:00pm full band concert.

According to Scott Crosbie, Director of the Sousa Band, all the tunes that will be played have been documented as having been played at historically significant events in the American Revolution.
“We enjoy adding this authentic touch to our Music in the Park concert,” he added.
Following the Sousa concert on June 21st there will be eight additional concerts throughout the season.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Volunteers from the Hopkins Activity Center will be there, selling their famous Raspberry Sundaes.
Music in the Park concerts will be held in Downtown Park, 16 9th Avenue South, just south of the Clock Tower in Downtown Hopkins. Rain location is the Hopkins Activity Center at 33 14th Avenue North.
