Several Hopkins Teachers Chosen as AP Readers
Their selection signifies that they're experts in their field.

Four Advanced Placement (AP) teachers recently served as AP Readers, joining college faculty and selected AP teachers from across the country to evaluate and score AP exams. The teachers include: Jennifer Heimlich (AP World History), Felicia Homberger (AP English Language and Composition), John Sammler (AP Environmental Science) and John Unruh-Friesen (AP Comparative Government). Many of these teachers have been scoring for several years.
Teachers who are selected to be AP Readers are experienced in teaching rigorous, college-level work. They are experts in their fields. According to CollegeBoard, the experience is an intensive collegial exchange and a uniquely valuable opportunity for professional development. The process gives teachers insight into AP exams, allowing them the opportunity to develop techniques to offer the best preparation to students.

Other HHS teachers that have served as AP Readers in the past include Shannon Bailey (AP US History) and Kathy Nelson (AP Calculus). Additionally, John Unruh-Friesen also serves as an AP consultant and will be teaching a week- long institute at Carleton College in early July.
Hopkins High School has one of the strongest and most established AP programs in the state. Hopkins teachers are able to serve in these leadership roles due to their expertise in their fields.
