• 10-year throwback: Commissioners vote to restore 2015 Zoning Ordinance language for sand mines (hometownsource.com) — Houston County commissioners have restored the 2015 zoning rules that require new sand mines to be at least a half-mile from existing sites, a move many residents say protects the county’s landscape and way of life. After weeks of debate and public comment from Houston-area and Yucatan Township residents, the board approved the text amendment 4-1, drawing applause from a packed room.
