The cooperative says shifting grain markets favor larger plants in places like Mankato and Fairmont, and it will keep offering agronomy and energy services in the region while buying grain for other facilities.

Tina Smith highlighted how rising costs and tight margins are squeezing local farmers while Congress delays a new farm bill.
