Tonight: Dance the Night Away with Neighbors and the Excelsior Fire District
It's Big! It's Fun! It's Entertaining! It's the 2012 Excelsior Fire District Dance, and it's happening this Friday.
will be transformed into an event center this Friday, July 20—providing food, entertainment, beverages, kids’ activities, polka music and good old rock and roll.
Gates for the 28th Annual Excelsior Firefighter's Dance and fundraiser will open at 5 p.m., and hundreds of people are expected to come support the firefighters and have a down right old fashioned good time with friends, family and neighbors.
This year there are two bands taking the stage—Hi Hats Polka Band starts at 5 p.m., and High & Mighty will rock the fire hall from 8 p.m. until midnight.

This year’s door prizes are something everyone can use—gas and grocery gift certificates. Guests will also have a chance to bid on a variety of silent auction items including merchandise, gift certificates, services, artwork, electronics and more.
Face painters, a giant slide and every kid’s favorite—the giant moonwalk—will keep the little ones entertained, and back by popular demand are the famous "Grill Happy" pork chops on a stick—along with traditional menu items and the Excelsior Fire District Auxiliary’s famous homemade desserts.

Convenient shuttle service is available, and buses will run from downtown Excelsior, so come out and play this Friday and hang out with family, catch up with neighbors, run into friends and meet new people.
The proceeds from the dance go into the Excelsior Firefighter’s Relief Association general fund (not into the pension fund). This allows the firefighters to use the funds to purchase equipment that is not covered in the operating budget.
Most of the purchased items have improved firefighter safety and efficiency. With the funds from previous dances, an AutoPulse CPR Compression Machine, a thermal imaging camera and rescue boat supplies were purchased.
