New York Man Charged in Alleged $670,000 Lakeville Swindle; Fake IDs, Additional Checks Found (limitless-news.com) — Lakeville police intercepted $670,000 in cashier's checks allegedly sent by an elderly victim to an unoccupied Lakeville home, leading to felony swindle charges against a New York man. Investigators say they also found additional high-value checks, suspected fake IDs, and multiple phones in his vehicle. The suspect remains jailed in Dakota County, with a court hearing set for September 24.
   

2. Lakeville Man Accused of Fleeing Police at More Than 120 MPH Before Crash Injuring Woman With 2-Year-Old Bab (limitless-news.com) — A Lakeville man is charged with felony fleeing after police say he sped over 120 mph near MSP Airport and later crashed into an SUV in Bloomington carrying a woman and her 2-year-old. The woman was hospitalized with abdominal bruising, while the child was reportedly uninjured. The driver, identified as a Lakeville resident, was arrested nearby and remains accused but not convicted.
   

3. Swimming: Cougars deny Shakopee a Lakeville sweep (hometownsource.com) — Lakeville South's girls' swim team edged Shakopee 97-89 at Blanchard Aquatic Center, keeping the Cougars unbeaten in South Suburban Conference duals while Lakeville North fell to Rosemount. Local swimmers from both Lakeville schools posted multiple standout performances in varsity and JV events. Coaches praised their athletes' depth, energy, and strong early-season form.
   

4. Rosemount places first at Eastview band competition (hometownsource.com) — Lakeville South's marching band earned third place in Class 3A at the Eastview Marching Band Festival, where Rosemount took top honors. The performance kicks off a busy competition season for area bands, including a larger Rosemount-hosted festival on September 19. Local families can watch many neighboring high school bands, including Lakeville's, perform throughout the day and evening.
