Historic Mankato landmark goes up for auction (keyc.com) — A major piece of Mankato’s skyline—the former Ardent Mills plant with its painted silos—is now up for sealed-bid auction, starting at $995,000 through October 22. Founded in 1878 by R.D. Hubbard, the historic mill once pumped city water and served as a fire alarm, and its sale will determine the future of one of the community’s most recognizable landmarks.

Former Frey aide sentenced to 33 months in prison for $1.6 million fraud linked to Feeding Our Future (meigsindypress.com) — A former aide to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has been sentenced to 33 months in prison for his role in a $240 million Feeding Our Future fraud scheme that included child nutrition sites in Mankato. Prosecutors say his nonprofit, Stigma-Free International, falsely claimed to serve millions of meals while diverting more than $1.6 million for personal real estate and business investments.
