15-Year-Old Driver Killed After Crashing Into Tree: Sheriff
Riley Ballou was a 10th grader at Little Falls Community High School. Two other teens were hospitalized after the crash.

MORRISON COUNTY, MN — Authorities in central Minnesota say a 15-year-old was killed after crashing into a tree Saturday evening. On Dec. 15 just before 8 p.m., the Morrison County Sheriff's Office received a report of a one-car crash involving three juveniles on Forest Road in Green Prairie Township, north of Little Falls.
Police say 15-year-old Riley Ballou of Randall was traveling east on Forest Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
The Little Falls Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. Lifesaving efforts were attempted on Ballou but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two passengers have been identified as 15-year-old Harley Gangl, of Little Falls, and 16-year-old Derrick Andres, of Randall.
Gangl was transported to the St. Cloys Hospital by North Air Care and Andres was transported to St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance, according to a news release.

Authorities said the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. The crash is under investigation.

"Little Falls Community Schools is deeply saddened to announce the tragic passing of 10th grader Riley Ballou," the district said in a statement.
"We ask that you please keep his family in your thoughts. There will be additional grief support staff available at the High School."
