2012 Election: District 34 Candidates File for State Legislative Seats

All three Republican incumbents will face a DFL opponent in the Nov. 6 general election. Three candidates also filed in the Minnesota's Third Congressional District race.

Maps for Minnesota’s were released in February this year, setting the stage for the Nov. 6, 2012 general election. Maple Grove residents are now part of District 34.  

With the June 5 deadline to file for state and county offices having now come and gone, a picture of how November’s ballot will look is beginning to come into focus.

In State Senate 34: Republican Senator Warren Limmer will face DFL opponent Sharon Bahensky. Both are Maple Grove residents.

In State Representative District 34A: Republican Legislator Joyce Peppin will face DFL opponent Adam Fisher. Both are Rogers residents.

In State Representative District 34B: Republican Legislator Kurt Zellers will face DFL opponent David B. Hoden. Both are Maple Grove residents.

Two candidates filed by Tuesday’s deadline to challenge U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen, who represents Minnesota’s Third Congressional District which includes Maple Grove. Paulsen, a Republican from Eden Prairie, will face a fellow Republican opponent John W. Howard III of Eden Prairie. On the DFL side, Brian Barnes of Edina will also be on the ballot.

The filing period for the applicable open seats on the Maple Grove City Council seats and Osseo School District School Board will be Tuesday, July 31 through Tuesday, August 14, 2012.
