We're getting so close! Just over a week away from the start of Maple Grove Days. What events are you most excited for? My kids are really looking forward to the parade on Thursday night! Here are a few fun facts about the Pierre Bottineau parade!
1. Over 9000 people come to watch the parade each year!
2. There will be five high school/public marching bands at this year's parade - Maple Grove, Osseo, St. Cloud City, the 728 Cadets, and St Francis. The stakes are high - a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place award will be given to the top bands.
3. Parade floats and group can also compete for cash prizes! Creativity is key! What have your past favorite floats been?
4. While the parade starts at 6:30, make sure you come early to see the T-6 Thunder planes perform a special flyover at 6:10! They've been a big hit in years past and this year should be great as well.
5. While the route will stay the same as in past years (running from Zachary Lane to Elm Creek Blvd along 89th Avenue), this year Zachary will not be closed off to traffic as it has been in past years. With the incredible growth of Maple Grove and the challenges of road construction, this change was necessary. Not to worry! Your parade staff has carefully planned the parade to run as smoothly as possible. Spectators probably won't notice a difference!
