The project aims to relieve pressure on emergency, surgical, and maternity services as the northwest metro grows, though timelines and exact plans are still being finalized under a 10-year state oversight agreement.
• Man dies in roll over crash in Maple Grove, community offers support (hometownsource.com) — A St. Michael man died after his pickup left the I-694 to I-94 ramp in Maple Grove on Sept. 19 and rolled into a ditch, with local police and ambulance responding. The longtime STMA hockey dad leaves a wife and three children, and friends have already raised tens of thousands of dollars online to help his family with unexpected expenses.
• Police catch 'career criminal' on the run, wanted for burglaries (wisn.com) — Maple Grove police arrested a suspected serial burglar after responding to a weekend break-in where more than $10,000 in jewelry was stolen and a K-9 found a man hiding in nearby brush. The suspect, wanted in multiple Milwaukee-area burglaries and booked under an alias in Hennepin County, is expected to face charges in Minnesota before being returned to Wisconsin.
