A New “Patch” on the Crazy Quilt…

A thank-you and an introduction from the Guy in the Garret writing novels in Maple Grove.

Sometimes I forget that I'm an expert on failure, that life is still shouting at me, "it's not about you," and that my occasional victories are small and insignificant. That can happen with a bump in book sales or a few speaking engagements or as in the case of a few days ago someone runs a feature on me, as Patch did.  Hello, I'm Thomas Sullivan – Sully – and I write novels for a living, which is tantamount to being unemployed most of the time.  Patch got it right in this article, if you want to read a little about me: .

And along with that kind piece, I received an invitation to blog.  Since I already put out an international newsletter (Sullygrams), which are basically inspirational and motivational, I thought I might see how scaled-down excerpts would work here from time to time.

At the moment I'm scrambling to nail down the Barnes & Noble Nook First feature on my novel DUST OF EDEN mentioned in the article.  With some 30 million products, having a novel among a featured four is a rare event for me.  And the clock is ticking to take advantage of it.  So consider this an introduction, if you will, and a response to the many kind e-mails I've received about the Patch article and others.  I'll be back now and then, here and there, to share the transcendent atmosphere of our fair "patch," and to rave a little about nature – I can't understand why God didn't patent a day like today or at least copyright the things the wind is writing on the water behind my house.  Right now the breeze is reading it out loud – taking advantage of the free use doctrine, I suppose.  Think I'll go out and play…
