Operation STICKER SHOCK

Partnership for Change, a local youth substance abuse prevention coalition based out of North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale is once again implementing Operation Sticker Shock with the help of local liquor stores, law enforcement, and student leaders from local high schools, including Maple Grove and Osseo Senior Highs.

Operation Sticker Shock reminds and thanks adults for not providing alcohol to underage drinkers.  With the graduation and summer season here the Coalition wants to remind adults not to provide alcohol to minors. 

As a prevention coalition, we know most adults are doing the right thing and following the law.  PFC wants to thank adults for helping prevent underage drinking and hopes this campaign will also remind community members to be extra vigilant during this time of year when so many celebrations are occurring.

Over the past week, student leaders who are part of Action for Reaction youth groups at Maple Grove and Osseo Senior Highs helped Partnership for Change hang the Sticker Shock bottle hangers on alcohol products in participating liquor stores.

The following local businesses agreed to participate in Operation Sticker Shock:  MGM in Maple Grove, Premier Wines and Spirits in Osseo, and Princeton Liquors in both Osseo and Maple Grove.  These businesses are to be commended for their willingness to partner with Partnership for Change, to reduce underage drinking.

Action for Reaction is a youth leadership program sponsored by Partnership for Change; the youth leaders promote safe and substance free choices.  Partnership for Change is funded by a federal Drug Free Communities Grant and a grant from the MN Department of Human Services, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division.  For more information about Partnership for Change go to partnership4change.org or call (763)581-3762.
