You may have heard or seen information about Moms RUN This Town (MRTT) recently - but maybe you still aren't sure if it's the right group for you, or even what we can offer or what makes it unique. Here's the 4-1-1 on the Champlin/Maple Grove chapter of MRTT.
We are 100% FREE. All you need to do to be a member is request to join our closed, private Facebook Group. That is where we chat, make plans, give and get advice, etc. Because it is free, there is no need to worry about spending money on something that doesn't turn out to be right for you, or feeling guilty about being unable to attend gatherings or runs that you paid for.
We are active. We currently have groups meeting regularly twice per week, with more days/times possible in the future as the weather improves and based on member demand. Members sometimes organize their own days/times and invite the group in addition to what leaders post, so there are many opportunities to get involved!

We are accomodating. It truly does not matter whether you are a walker, a new runner, or an experienced marathoner. Your pace can be 14 minute miles or 8 minute miles. No matter what, you are welcome to join us and there will be a place for you. We have a huge variety of people of various levels, and that's the way we like it!
We are friendly... Because this group is free and more focused on the social aspect of running rather than any sort of formal "coaching", many members feel there is less pressure and more opportunity to just chat about whatever. Some wonderful friendships have been and continue to evolve out of this group - although we all started out as strangers, and new faces continue to join us each week! Plus, in addition to our runs together, we schedule occasional social gatherings such as breakfast or happy hour.

But can also provide opportunities for training partners, groups or support. If you are training for a race, you are bound to find other members who are also training for that same distance or even that same race. We also have knowledgable members who are more than willing to share tips or advice.
We are flexible and laid back. You can participate as much or as little as you are able to. You can jump right in and start joining us for runs, or you can take your time getting to "know" people through Facebook and utilize the group page for information and advice. This group is totally member-driven, and you make of it whatever you choose to make of it.
Bonus: We are all moms, so we all understand when things come up. We understand when you're having a bad day. Maybe your husband is at work, your fridge is empty because you don't have the time or energy to get to the market, you only got 2 hours of sleep and your baby pooped all over your bed while toddler was secretly coloring on the walls and your dog was in the background puking. We totally get it.
We are all in the same boat or remember being in that boat. Finding a group who not only understands what the joys and challenges of motherhood, but also understands and supports the desire to get and stay fit and healthy - and the love of running - is really awesome. Balancing your running or fitness routine can be challenging as a parent, but being a part of MRTT can make it easier and more fun!
