Are you looking for a great way to get on track with your fitness? Do you enjoy walking, jogging, or running? Would you like to start walking, jogging, or running, but don't know where to begin or feel you have enough motivation to follow through? Do you want to meet other awesome moms and make great friends?
Look no further than Moms RUN This Town. Started just 3 years ago by one mom in Georgia, this free group now has nearly 800 chapters nationwide. The Champlin/Maple Grove has been active for less than a year, and is now approaching 200 members.
The group is flexible and completely member-driven. We do fun events aside from just walking or running - things like dinner/happy hour, coffee, play dates, etc. It started as a running group, and it still is a running group - but it has evolved into an opportunity for SO much more. But it's up to you - you can join simply to share and ask for hints and tips in our private Facebook group. You can look for a running buddy or two to train with for a specific race. You can choose to just meet up with us at local races (and even take part in group costumes, like some of our members are doing for Monster Dash this weekend!) You can attend group runs, and you can attend other events. Or any combination of the above. That's really the great thing about MRTT - you can utilize the group however you want to.
It is completely understandable that it can be intimidating and difficult to take that first step in meeting a bunch of strangers, but you will quickly see what an amazing, friendly, welcoming group of women it is. As far as group runs - DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR PACE. You WILL NOT BE LEFT BEHIND. There are people of so many levels, and sometimes we even choose to just walk.
As we like to say "The group is free, but the support, motivation, and encouragement you will receive is PRICELESS".
All you need to do to is request to join our private Facebook Group. A Chapter Leader will review your request (to ensure member privacy and safety from creepers and spam) and approve it - that's it!
