City of Maple Grove Unveils New Website
The new website went live for residents in June.

After months of discussion and planning, the city of Maple Grove has converted to a new website.
“We are very pleased with the site, and it includes a wealth of knowledge about city government and services as well as our community,” said Carol Morris with the city’s administration department. “We hope that visitors find it engaging and much easier to navigate.”
Here’s some of the highlights residents can expect from the city’s new website:

“One of the main highlights is the new domain name: www.maplegrovemn.gov, much easier to remember and work with than the previous (www.ci.maple-grove.mn.us)," Morris said. In addition, all city email addresses for staff and departments have been changed using @maplegrove.mn.gov, which is easier to use for city employees. The previous web and email address remains active.
“Items of interest are much more at the viewer’s fingertips, not a lot of digging needed for what they are looking for,” Morris said. “To determine the home page drop down categories, we looked closely at the old site and the pages viewers were visiting so we knew the areas of particular interest so they could be displayed prominently.”

As another communication tool for the city to have with residents, a blog has been added to the site. Viewers can subscribe to updates and provide their comments as well.
“While we do have a basic service request form in which residents can submit items such as streetlight outages, potholes, and such, we are exploring a new program to incorporate in the site that will provide a better way of tracking and following up on requests,” Morris said. The concept is “in the works” and a rollout date has not yet been determined.
The esubscribe feature is also an option for residents to receive updates directly from the city in areas such transit, road construction, city council and planning commission agendas/minutes, Maple Grove Farmers Market, Town Green and more.
“We invite and encourage viewers to select the categories of interest to receive updates. With the old system, the updates came as a standard email,” Morris said. “With the new website, the notifications allow for us to include a vibrant banner, photos as well as the pertinent information on the particular topic.”
The new website was unveiled June 14.
