Council Sets Public Hearing for Skye at Arbor Lakes Street, Utility Project

The proposed cost for the street and utilities improvements is $2.5 million.

The future development of the apartment complex moves another step forward as the Maple Grove City Council recently approved the receiving the street and utility feasibility report and set a public hearing.

The feasibility report outlines the “improvements necessary to provide streets and utilities” for the proposed development of Skye at Arbor Lakes, according to a memo from Assistant City Engineer Terry Muller to the Council.

The Skye Lakes Development proposes 440 apartment units within two buildings as well as an area designed for future retail.

The proposed street and utility improvements span the area along 81st Avenue and Lakeview Drive in Maple Grove.

The $ 2,109,701 proposed improvements, along with area trunk assessments of $1,633,290 results in a total proposed assessment of $2,558,477, according to the memo. Muller said the estimated cost per unit for the proposed Skye at Arbor Lakes Development is $4,868 per unit – with the city’s share of the project including $336,984 to benefit city park property and $680,260 to the city of Maple Grove.

The Council approved by a 4-0 vote to receive the feasibility report on Skye at Arbor Lakes Street and Utility project at its Monday, March 19 meeting and setup the public hearing on the proposed improvements for 7:30 p.m. April 2, 2012.

Councilmember LeAnn Sargent was absent from the meeting.
