Fire Training Goes Bad, Damages Two Brooklyn Park Homes
A fire training exercise gone bad in the northwest Twin Cities metro left two homes damaged Monday.
BROOKLYN PARK, MN — A fire training exercise gone bad left two homes damaged Monday in Brooklyn Park. City fire crews were conducting a training exercise at a soon-to-be demolished house when the wind changed directions. The wind blew heat across the street, which melted a portion of the exterior of two homes near 107th Avenue and Winnetka Avenue North around 2:30 p.m.
“It was an anomaly in the weather,” Brooklyn Park Fire Chief Ken Prillaman told the Star Tribune. “I’ve never seen homes across the street suffer damage. It was a very unusual circumstance.” Nobody was injured in the incident, and Prillaman told the newspaper that no structural damage occurred.
