That there has been billions in cuts in the Farm Bill that affects the SNAP (food-stamp) program. These deep cuts, while it affects thousands of children, this article will address how it affects our Senior population. 114,000 Seniors in this State will be affected by this cut, forcing them to choose between medicine and food.
Additionally, the planned cost of living increase in Social Security benefits will be only 1.5%, which does not match the true cost of living increases we face each year.
If you know a Senior or have one in your life, check in with them, especially as the holidays approach. We have found Seniors to be generally proud and not comfortable with asking for help
Adopting a Senior for the holidays can make a difference in someone's life.
