How Much Maple Grove's Population Has Grown: U.S. Census
Rural towns in Minnesota lost population, while suburbs in the metro gained residents over the past 10 years.
MAPLE GROVE, MN — Maple Grove has nearly 9,000 more residents living in it right now than it did 10 years ago, according to data released Thursday from the 2020 United States Census. The city's growth in population mirrors the growth in other towns and suburbs in the Twin Cities metro area.
Meanwhile, many rural towns in Minnesota lost population or remained stagnant between 2010 and 2020.
"Many counties within metro areas saw growth, especially those in the south and west. However, as we've been seeing in our annual population estimates, our nation is growing slower than it used to," said Marc Perry, a senior demographer at the Census Bureau.
