Father Killed Riding Motorcycle In The Twin Cities

The crash happened on Interstate 694 Friday.

TWIN CITIES, MN — A Brooklyn Park man who was a husband and the father of four died Friday in a vehicle crash in the north metro. Travis John Eckman, 40, was riding a 2009 Suzuki sport bike eastbound on Interstate 694 at Humboldt in Brooklyn Center.

The Suzuki attempted to move around a Volkswagen Passat, also eastbound, when it made contact with the rear of the car and lost control, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash happened just after 5 p.m.

Eckman died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, authorities said.

The White Bear Lake driver involved in the crash did not suffer any injuries.

"Travis loved life and lived it to the max everyday," reads the GoFundMe page established for him.
