MLB Hall Of Famer Bert Blyleven's Son Rescued Dozens In Las Vegas: Report
Bert Blyleven's son Todd told the Washington Post he may have helped around 30 to 40 people escape gunfire in Las Vegas Sunday.

Former minor league baseball player Todd Blyleven, the son of baseball Hall of Fame pitcher and Minnesota Twins color commentator Bert Blyleven, may have helped dozens of people get away from the gunfire during Sunday's mass shooting in Las Vegas. Blyleven, who lives in Dallas, came to the city with friends and family for the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival, where the deadliest mass shooting in United States history took place – leaving 58 people dead and more than 515 injured.
“You look up and you could see the muzzle flashes from the window at the Mandalay Bay,” Blyleven told The Washington Post. “The stage went black, Jason Aldean and his crew all ducked and ran offstage. Everybody started screaming, and then you start to see people going down.”
“I just felt like I had to,” he added. (For more local news, click here to sign up for real-time news alerts and newsletters from Minnesota Patch, click here to find your local Minnesota Patch. Also, follow us on Facebook, and if you have an iPhone, click here to get the free Patch iPhone app.)

Blyleven said he led the group he was with to safety – fleeing the area as gunshots pounded near them – before going back into the venue and joining others working to get more people out. He estimated he may have helped around 30 to 40 people escape gunfire.
