Level 3 Sex Offender Relocating To Maple Grove

MAPLE GROVE, MN — Per Minnesota law, the Maple Grove Police Department is releasing information on a level-three sexual offender moving to Maple Grove. Christopher Jajuan Ferguson will be moving to the area of Annapolis Lane North and Berkshire Lane North either on or after May 6.

"This individual has served the sentence imposed on him by the court and is transitioning within the community," police said.

According to Maple Grove police, Ferguson "engaged in sexual contact with an unknown adult female victim. Contact included sexual touching and penetration. Ferguson gained access to victim by approaching her in public. Ferguson also robbed victim. Ferguson gained compliance through physical force, indicating that he had a weapon, and forcing victim to another location."

A community notification meeting regarding Ferguson's transition will be held Tuesday, April 23 at 7 p.m. at the Maple Grove Middle School auditorium (7000 Hemlock Lane North).

Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Corrections and the Maple Grove Police Department will be available to provide public safety info.

"Please note that this notification is meant to provide information and reduce uneasiness, not create it," police noted.

"The most important factor to remember is that individuals who have committed sex crimes have always lived in communities throughout Minnesota. The difference is that since the 1990s, Minnesota statutes allow local law enforcement to inform citizens of certain offender’s general whereabouts."
