Minnesota Mom, 28, And Her 2 Sons Killed In Crash

The mom and her two sons — Hudson, 4, and Cooper, 1 — lived in Viking, Minnesota.

MARSHALL COUNTY, MN — A Minnesota mom and her two sons were killed in a collision Wednesday. On Oct. 3 just before 3:30 p.m., the Marshall County Sheriff's Office received a report of a two-car crash in Excel Township.

Cassandra Flatland, 28, was traveling southbound on 120th Avenue NE. According to police, Flatland failed to yield at the intersection at 260th Street NE.

Her car was struck by a 16-year-old driving a pickup truck. Flatland and her two sons — Hudson, 4, and Cooper, 1, were ejected from their vehicle. All three were killed.

The pickup driver was not injured, authorities said.

"Cassandra was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend," reads a GoFundMe page established for the family. "A loving mother with a huge heart who always had a smile on her face. If you ever met Cassandra you knew you had a life long friend."

"Her greatest love in life was becoming a mother of her two beautiful boys."

Flatland was a resident of Viking, Minnesota. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, according to the obituary.
