A Kanabec County sheriff's deputy was hospitalized after his search for a reported cow on the roadway ended with a collision with that very cow. The Minnesota State Patrol said as the deputy was making a second pass through the area at about 10:13 p.m. Monday, the cow ran out of the ditch and the MSP squad, a 2014 Ford Taurus, struck it. The deputy was transported to First Light Hospital in Mora, Minnesota with non-life threatening injuries. MSP did not report on the extent of the cow's injuries.
