MRTT continues to grow by leaps and bounds!

Nationally, Moms RUN This Town (MRTT) has grown from 1 chapter to probably around 550 in just 3 years. In the Champlin/Maple Grove chapter, membership has grown from just a handful, to over 120 in a matter of months. This is some pretty significant growth - so what exactly is driving that success?

First of all, it's member-driven. Each chapter can be whatever it's members want it to be for them. Some chapters are very large with multiple group runs each week. Some chapters are small, primarily utilizing their private Facebook group for advice and chatter...and some groups fall somewhere in between. The Champlin/Maple Grove chapter happens to be very active...lately we have been having 3 regular groups runs each week, in addition to members posting randomly looking for running partners at different times than the normally scheduled runs.

Second - we are unique because of our extremely active online community, both locally and nationally. Each chapter has it's own private, closed FB group. The Champlin/Maple Grove Facebook Group is extremely active, with frequent chatter...often running related, sometimes not. It's a great place where running moms can feel comfortable asking for advice from other moms, share stories or vents, and just feel a part of tthe group - even those who haven't yet joined in a group run or event! In addition to private chapter groups, there are also public pages for MRTT National as well as each state having it's own page.

And of course, it's free. Where else can you find such a laid back, yet very active, and 100% free group?! We are not coached, which is ideal for those who just want to meet other moms and new friends or running partners, find a support system, get encouragement, and have FUN with running. No pressure, no obligations. And, if you are lucky enough to live near more than one chapter, there is no reason you can't join more than one. Locally, we not only have the Champlin/Maple Grove group, but there are also active groups in Waconia/Chaska, St. Paul, Minneapolis, and more. Or perhaps you will be on vacation and would like to find out about races going on at your destination, or find a running buddy or info about good trails or places to run....no reason you can't look up a chapter near there in order to connect with peope who likely have all the info you are looking for!

In addition to all of that, there are plenty of other reasons for our success. We organize social outings like breakfasts or happy hour. We meet up at local races, cheer each other on, and suppor each other. For those who choose, you can order MRTT gear but it is never required. We hope to start getting involved in community volunteer projects or volunteering at local races.

And, most of all, every single member is there for their own reason. Nobody judges anybody. There are people of all levels and paces, from walkers to experienced marathoners. Everybody is incredible encouraging and supportive. It's a wonderful group of women who always welcome new faces.

It's EASY to join us. All you have to do is request to be a member of our private Facebook group at: https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/champlinmaplegrove/
One of the leaders will approve your membership and...viola! You're a part of an amazing community of inspiring women!
